The effect of therapeutic plasmaferesis method in haemophiliacs on blood oxidant-antioxidant system parameters

In this paper was studied the state of nonspecific resistance - the state of oxidant-antioxidant system in 30 patients with haemophilia before and after the five-time application of therapeutic plasmaferesis who received conventional therapy. Used extracorporeal treatment method is capable of removing endotoxins, which are free radicals formed as a result of the lesion of the hematopoietic tissue and cartilage. Excess of free radicals can cause the \"oxidative stress\". In order to assess the state of oxidant-antioxidant system of the blood of patients with haemophilia was identified a number of parameters: malondialdehyde content, one of the integral indicators of lipid peroxidation, and antioxidants: enzymatic activity of superoxide dismutase, catalase, glutathione peroxidase, ceruloplasmin content. As a criterion for separation of the groups of patients with hemophilia was used indicator of the dynamics of changes in the content of the secondary product of lipid peroxidation - malondialdehyde.
It is shown that only 60% of patients with hemophilia after application of therapeutic plasmapheresis with initially increased malondialdehyde content reaches performance standards, probably, due to activation of antioxidant system. However, the lack of effect in 17% and increased stress of oxidant-antioxidant system in 23% of haemophiliacs demonstrates the need to seek additional biochemical criteria for assessing the effectiveness of the plasmaferesis in the treatment of haemophilia.
