Brief summary
The article presents the results of treatment of 24 patients with glioblastoma using antiviral therapy. Antiviral therapy in combination with metronidazole in addition to standard complex treatment increased the survival period without progression of the cancer process in patients with glioblastoma by 2.82 times and amounted to 17.2(11.2;26.3) months, in contrast to the control - 6.1 (3.2;6.5) months. Against the background of this treatment method, one in four patients achieved a five-year survival rate. Insensitivity to this type of treatment was noted in 30% of patients, the progression of the tumor process occurred after 6-9 months. Work on the creation of cellular technologies using the viral genome may be promising in extending the life of patients with high-grade gliomas.
