Macromycets as bioindicators of mercury pollution of the urbanized territory

Brief summary
The article presents experimental work on quantitative determination of content of mercury in some macromycetes on the territory of Saint-Petersburg and the surrounding area. The content of the element in the mushrooms was determined using the method of atomic absorption spectrometry. The research carried out showed that mushrooms accumulate mercury. Concentration of heavy metal in the mushrooms of impact zone is higher what in the mushrooms of suburbs of megalopolis. The experimental data on the content of mercury in the basidioms give an idea of the extent and nature of the contamination of the soil with these metals on the territory of the growth of mushroom, and make it possible to assess the ecological mercury safety of the environment. The research findings can be used for ecological monitoring.
