Brief summary
The article presents the results of two-factor, long-term experiments on laboratory animals (mice) with a simulation of the combined exposure to the mixture of harmful chemicals that pollute the indoor air of inhabited hermetic premises and ionizing radiation at a low dose (30 cGy). The biological effect has been assessed by a set of biochemical indicators reflecting the metabolic disorders caused by exposure to ionizing radiation and chemical factor. The dominant role of the chemical factor is shown. The mathematical model of the combined radiation-chemical exposure has been developed using the matrix of a two-factor experiment. The combined exposure coefficient (Ксч) was calculated on the base of biochemical parameters that significantly (p<0.05) reacted to the isolated and combined exposure of factors (such are metabolic parameters of erythrocytes, glycolysis activity, the number of bone marrow cells with chromosomal aberrations). The combined exposure coefficient of chemical and radiation factors of low intensity is proposed in the range from 1.1 to 1.6. The coefficient can be used for accelerated calculation of hygienic standards for harmful chemicals polluting habitable hermetic premises.
