Use of isolated chemiohyperthermic pelvic perfusion as palliative therapy in patients with locally advanced tumors of the pelvic organs

Brief summary

In recent years, there has been a steady increase in pelvic cancer on the territory of the Russian Federation. Some patients in this category have a locally advanced tumor, and, as a consequence, a pronounced decrease in quality of life. Most patients experience a strong decrease in the psychological and physical components of health, while intense pain syndrome significantly limits patients' tolerance to physical activity, self-care capabilities, and a decrease in all indicators of social and physical activity. Isolated chemohyperthermic pelvic perfusion is one of the possible treatment methods that can achieve a significant improvement in the quality of life and its components. The study assessed the results of 18 interventions. The results were an increase in quality of life indicators of both psychological (MH - 35.3 points) (p <0.05) and physical components of health (PH - 29.4 points) (p <0.05). The data obtained allow us to recommend the use of ICHPT for the treatment of patients with locally advanced forms of pelvic cancer with severe comorbidity, as palliative therapy.
