Functional and morphologycal distrubances of central neurous system were induced intoxication of carbon monoxide and modeling hypoxic hypoxia in the rats

Brief summary

In the experimental study, laboratory animals were exposed to wood pyrolysis products containing carbon monoxide at a concentration of 4800+/-650 ppm (6000+/-810 mg/m3) for 30 minutes, which led to the formation of a severe degree of intoxication. When evaluating the food-procuring conditioned response in the pre-trained animals in 8-arm radial maze, we noted an increase (p <0,05) in the number of errors of the referent and working memory in the delayed period of intoxication. These changes were accompanied by a violation of the histoarchitecture of the hippocampus CA3 field. When modeling normobaric hypoxic hypoxia (oxygen content 6 ÷ 8 vol.%, 30 min) in the distant period there was no disturbance in the reproduction of the food-procuring conditioned response. In the study of micrographs of the CA3 hippocampal field, no significant pathological changes were observed. The results of the experimental study suggest that the development of hypoxia due to the formation of carboxyhemoglobin is not the leading pathogenetic mechanism for the development of delayed neurological distrubances of the central nervous system after carbon monoxide intoxication. The obtained results are consistent with the literature data that the mechanism for the development of these disorders is associated with mediated neurotoxic mechanisms of carbon monoxide action.
