Brief summary

A decrease in testosterone levels in men can occur because of both pathological and functional changes in the body. Functional hypogonadism may accompany a variety of chronic conditions, but also be the result of physical or psychological stress. The literature suggests in favor of both the existing and the missing relationship between testosterone levels and neurotic disorders. Surveyed 88 healthy males aged 18-20 years. The analysis of the obtained data did not reveal a statistically significant relationship between the level of total testosterone and the data of psychological examination for neurotic disorders. Thus, the relationship between the level of testosterone and the severity of neurotic syndromes in young healthy males has not been confirmed.

Key words

testosterone, neurotic disorders, depression, functional hypogonadism.
