Brief summary
Studying of a role of alcohol dehydrogenase in biotransformation of ethanol at Daphnia Magna Stratus was the aim of research. By method of pharmacological probing with use of un-competitive alcohol dehydrogenase inhibitor - amide of isovalerian acid has established that bio-transformation of ethanol in daphnia is performed by the participation of NAD-dependent alcohol dehydrogenase. The share of alcohol dehydrogenase accounts for at least 84% of the total metab-olism of ethyl alcohol in daphnia.
It was concluded that Daphnia Magna Stratus could be used as a test object for screen-ing substances with the properties of alcohol dehydrogenase inhibitors.
