Brief summary
Meningo- and encephalocele with localization in the sphenoid bone - an extremely rare find, which are dominated by the median types derived from the defect or the superior or posterior wall of the sphenoid sinus. The lateral type, which results in a defect in the lateral sphenoid sinus part, even more rare localization. According to the etiology of basal meningo- and encephalocele divided into congenital and acquired. The most common clinical manifestation are epileptic seizures and csf leak. We have presented experience treating six patients with this pathology. In a surgical treatment applied endoscopic, transcranial and combined approaches.
