Endometrial Cancer: heterogeneity and genetic markers.
Chernobrovkina A.E., Svirin N.A.

State Institution of Health "St. Petersburg Clinical Research Center specialized types of medical care (Oncology)."

Brief summary

An evaluation of molecular genetic testing to determine the prognostic and predictive characteristics of different genetic variants of endometrial cancer . Recently, a solution to this problem is largely attributed to genetic health research aimed at studying the role of genetic predisposition to the development of endometrial cancer and identify those with potentially high risk. All this confirms the need for further study of the genetic basis of cancer of the endometrium, which will optimize the algorithms of early diagnosis , pathogenesis -based prevention and treatment interventions .Summing up, it should be recognized that the mutation pattern of endometrial cancer is a complex , multifactorial and heterogeneous parameter not only between , but also within each subtype (I and II) endometrial cancer. It must be emphasized that the figures in this report mutations in PIK3CA, PIK3R1, KRAS and PTEN are not specific , and various breakdowns and their interaction with known cancer genes in the way of clues . More thoughtful understanding that the first and second types of endometrial cancer are genetically distinctive from each other, will be a step forward to improve future clinical trials

Key words

endometrial cancer, PIK3CA, PIK3R1, KRAS, PTEN, MSI, EGFR
