Studied parenchymal and stromal tissue of the bone marrow in the trephine biopsies 79 patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia. Identified 3 types of tumor infiltration: nodular, interstitial, diffuse. Showed changes of stromal microenvironment in all types of bone marrow. Increase in the density of microvessels, as well as state change and increase in number of endostal stromal cells showed lesions of hematopoetic stem cells niche. The defect of niche may be a pathogenetic factor in neoplastic transformation of precursor B-lymphopoesis and function of niche may be directed to the maintenance of leukemic clone.
